How it works

How a STEAM Stackers visit works

From the moment we pull up to the moment the last block goes back in the case—here’s exactly what your day looks like.

Start Building

We arrive and set up

About an hour before your first group for a standard 120-block event, two hours for a 240-block Big Group event. All we need from you is a table or large countertop to work from.

Your group builds

We recommend 60 minutes per group—we can go as short as 30. Your Activity Leader guides structured, hands-on play the whole time.

We clean it all up

Every block goes back in the case. Your room is returned exactly the way we found it.

Inside the hour

Structured play, not free-for-all

Your Activity Leader is a science demonstrator, game director and creative play overseer all in one. Every leader has experience working creatively with children—they include children’s improv teachers and science demonstrators.

Children develop problem solving, pattern recognition and math skills while they build cooperatively—walls, towers, forts, tunnels, and whatever else the group dreams up.

And every visit ends with the Block-Buster: your group crashing through a wall of blocks, filmed in slow motion.

What we need

The room matters more than the size

A gym

Works great. All the space anyone could want, and nothing to distract from the blocks.

A multipurpose or meeting room

Works great. This is where most of our library and preschool events happen.

A classroom

Works great when we have help from your staff keeping the children away from the toys and games already in the room.

The one rule: an indoor space, as clear of distractions as possible. Toys and games in the room are the thing that competes with us—not square footage.
